The question that I ask myself from time to time.. Why did I buy this thing..
That has more power than
the room size machines that cost over millions of dollars.. That the major companies the we all know of so well
All we can see these companies products just by looking around our home
My first encounter with these machines where I have to deal with a simple time card
it was tie to a computer in payroll.
There was a time I had a memory that was like a rock.
A little trick that I would use was to picture the face of a preson and the number or a name of a store or company would just up.
After the separation from my wife. I went back to school to start my way on to engineering.. But I learn that I need more
math.
I hated math!
The problem was... After I had learn to do short division in Catholic school for it work well in other type of math..
I had to leave the due to the fact that my family wasn't able to afford it any longer. And move on to public school.
And the teachers there ever see this way to solve the problems. They could see the answer was right..
But they wasn't able to see how I was able to come up with the answer so fast and alway correct.. They believe that I was
cheating. So they place me in a room alone with one desk and pencil an paper and a test.
And when I pass the test using short division they and still believe that I was cheating.. Because of that way I was doing the work. And this type of harassment, made feel there no way to enjoy doing math.
But today the kids do it in there head...
Anyway! I had to take the a math course. A computer language course would do it. And I eat it up.. And on learning how to teach compute how to do
do the math.. But the only thing that come of it, I found that I can't stand to sit in one place all day long.. I would of like it at Microsoft and Apple.. But l learn to do the work the Control Data way.. Boring..
A childhood friend would write some software programs. That would computer programs easy to use without having to train to use it.. Control Data.
Wasn't able to see why this would work to there benefit. Just like IBM didn't see the coming of the PC. Oh! The PC is a IBM product! Like dummies
we destroy and deleted the programs and and move on... And if I would of learn that out west that they do that true office thing
But why did I buy a computer..
It all started with a WebTv New Classic unit.
Were I start to learn to use this little tool to the internet. Found the newsgroup Users and would sit and wonder why so many people didn't
understand this nice little tool.. I learn of WebTv from all places was from TV. A shopping network of Value Vision. Then become
ShopNbc.com they were selling the classic unit. It was a great idea..
But I was able to use the computer at work to go online.. And there wasn't to much to the internet at the time.
Moving on I look into other newsgroups found Roy's group and than on to D-Lee group..
Started writing web pages... Make me think of the time that I would write software programs. I would keep it simple.. So that I wouldn't overload the webbie unit..
When I first started to use the webbie it was slow.. And had a lot of disconnects.
I disconnected all the phones that turn on the webbie and connect one phone at a time. Than found that one phone was bad. The line was still slow for the webbie. We had a newer line to the house. For which it is
call voice/date line. Start to use that line and thing became so good that pages loaded fast. That was nice.. I would take the upgrades and updates
wouldn't have a problem with them.
Yes! It could be the phone line..
The move to the computer is from that animation that at the top of the page.. A online friend sent
sent it to me. And I wanted to use the image but it wasn't a image as it was sent. And the computer
user that sent it didn't know to change it a gif..
I try to use on line tools to change to a gif. None of them was able to do so.. So I forward the email to
yahoo mail.. And still wasn't to change it there.. So it sat there for a year.
So I broke down, the bought a computer from ShopNbc and for four year didn't have to buy any software or hardware for
it. For the long run it was chetp for me to use.. Let me take that back... I got a newer printer.. But I didn't need too.
I just gave the other printer to my brother.. It's still being uses..
